On a tragic autumn evening, the life of 38-year-old Corey Merchant was cut short by an act of violence in his hometown of Chesapeake, Virginia. On October 17, 2018, Merchant was the victim of a shooting that occurred in the 2000 block of Linster Street. The Chesapeake man was rushed to Norfolk General Hospital with critical injuries. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his wounds the following day, on October 18, 2018.
