In the city of Richmond, Virginia, on the evening of March 4, 2019, a grim discovery was made inside an apartment at the Villas of Oakwood. Responding to a call about a person down at approximately 6:25 p.m., police entered a residence in the 3500 block of East Richmond Road to find two men who had been fatally shot. One of the victims was identified as 37-year-old Kenroy A. Cummings, a Black / African American male.
Alongside Cummings was 36-year-old Marvin D. Walters.
Both men were pronounced dead at the scene from apparent gunshot wounds. Investigators with the Richmond Police Department quickly classified the case as a double homicide and began an intensive investigation into the circumstances that led to the two men's deaths.
