Herbert Ray "Bert" Snelling, aged 57, tragically lost his life on May 31, 2019, during a mass shooting at the Virginia Beach Municipal Center. Snelling, a contractor, was at the Municipal Building 2 to fill a permit when a disgruntled city employee opened fire, killing 12 people, including Snelling. This tragic event marked one of the deadliest workplace shootings in U.S. history.
