Ashley Nicole Berry, a 33-year-old Richmond Fire Lieutenant, tragically lost her life on November 28, 2019, in Hopewell, Virginia. Berry was visiting Hopewell on Thanksgiving night when she was shot while protecting her young son from gunfire. The incident occurred just before 11:40 p.m. in the 1000 block of Sunnyside Avenue. Berry sustained serious gunshot-related injuries and was rushed to a local hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
