Javon Prather, a 24-year-old resident of West Springfield, Virginia, tragically lost his life on March 3, 2020. Prather, who served as a Specialist in the Maryland National Guard, was shot and killed in the 7700 block of Bedstraw Court. The incident occurred around 4:50 p.m., and Prather was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect, Michael Hetle, a 52-year-old former police officer and NASA executive, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.
