In the early hours of a summer morning in Chesapeake, Virginia, the life of 19-year-old Antonio San Antonio was brought to a violent and tragic end. On July 31, 2020, police responded to a call about an injured person at a residence in the 700 block of Washington Drive. Inside, they discovered San Antonio, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The initial investigation quickly led to the identification of two suspects who were arrested in connection with the homicide.
The individuals taken into custody were 32-year-old William Whittaker II and 32-year-old Seth Morgan. Both men were charged with first-degree murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. As the investigation delved deeper, a chilling narrative of a murder plot orchestrated from behind bars began to emerge. Whittaker, who was incarcerated at the time of the shooting, reportedly believed that San Antonio had informed on him to authorities. This belief allegedly became the catalyst for the fatal events that unfolded.
From jail, Whittaker is said to have communicated with his friend, Seth Morgan, instructing him to 'take care of your business.' Following these instructions, Morgan allegedly went to the residence where San Antonio was located. There, he is accused of shooting the young man in the head and chest, and then wrapping his body in a blanket. This act was the culmination of the plan set in motion by Whittaker's desire for retaliation.
In September 2022, William Whittaker II pleaded guilty to coordinating the murder of Antonio San Antonio. In January 2023, a judge sentenced him to the maximum term of 40 years in prison, a sentence that exceeded the state's recommended guidelines. The legal proceedings for Seth Morgan, who was charged with first-degree murder for allegedly carrying out the shooting, are still making their way through the court system, with future court dates scheduled.
