In the warm afternoon of September 15, 2020, the sounds of play at the Pollard Street Playground in Norfolk, Virginia, were tragically silenced by gunfire. Fifteen-year-old Deajha Williams Smith, a freshman at Granby High School known for her love of dancing and the color purple, was shot and killed in the Lindenwood community.
