In the early morning hours of September 25, 2020, the life of Rolando Maldonado-Ortega, a 40-year-old Hispanic male, was tragically cut short in Richmond, Virginia. At approximately 12:06 a.m., Richmond Police officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of Clarkson Road following a call for an unknown trouble. Upon their arrival, they discovered Maldonado-Ortega suffering from a gunshot wound.
Emergency services transported him to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Rolando Maldonado-Ortega succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead later that day. The Richmond Police Department subsequently classified the case as a homicide and initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.
