On the evening of January 10, 2017, the life of 25-year-old Tyrone Lamont Feggins Jr., a Black male, was abruptly ended. At approximately 7:22 p.m., Richmond Police were dispatched to the Woodland Crossing apartment complex in the 3400 block of Walmsley Boulevard following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Feggins in an outdoor stairwell, suffering from a gunshot wound.
Despite the prompt response, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A resident of the nearby Henrico County, Tyrone was known to his loved ones as a funny, outgoing, and lovable individual with a selfless spirit and a glorious smile. He had a passion for landscaping, restoring car headlights, and installing car audio systems. His willingness to help those in need was a hallmark of his character within the community. He was a father, son, and brother, whose sudden departure left a void in the lives of his family and friends.
Investigators determined that several people were present in the area at the time of the shooting and began seeking witnesses who could provide information about the events that transpired. However, the case grew cold over the years. In an effort to generate new leads, the Metro Richmond Crime Stoppers featured Feggins' homicide as their 'Crime of the Week' in June 2020. They appealed to the public for any information that might lead to a breakthrough in the investigation.
To date, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Tyrone Feggins, and no suspects have been publicly identified. The Richmond Police Department continues to encourage anyone with information to come forward, offering the potential for a cash reward for tips that lead to an arrest. The case remains an unsolved homicide, and a family continues to await justice for the loss of their loved one.
