On a Wednesday morning in Richmond, Virginia, the life of 28-year-old Nicholas 'Nick' Yarborough was tragically cut short. On November 11, 2020, at approximately 11:17 a.m., Richmond Police officers were dispatched to the 3000 block of Hull Street following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Nicholas Yarborough in the front yard of a residence, suffering from a gunshot wound.
Despite the efforts of first responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the death of the Black / African American male quickly identified a suspect. Richmond Police sought the public's assistance in locating Jesse Hall, a man in his late 20s, described as being 5' 6' tall with a slight build, who might have been driving a gold-colored Dodge hatchback. The case saw a significant development when a 31-year-old Richmond man was arrested in connection with the homicide.
Justice for Nicholas Yarborough saw its day in court as the arrested suspect was ultimately sentenced to 17 and a half years in prison. The conviction was for second-degree murder, along with additional gun and drug-related offenses.
