In the late hours of a winter evening in Chesapeake, Virginia, the life of a young man was tragically cut short. On January 20, 2021, Chesapeake Police responded to a call shortly after 11 p.m. regarding an injured person in the 1400 block of Leckford Drive, located in the Greenbrier section of the city. Upon their arrival, officers discovered 28-year-old Dwane Laquan Boone, a Black male from the neighboring city of Virginia Beach, suffering from a serious gunshot wound.
Emergency services transported him to a local hospital, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Known affectionately to his family as 'Quan,' Dwane was also a passionate artist who was building a career in the music world under the stage name 'Wavey Wane.' His life, filled with the promise of his creative pursuits, was abruptly ended in an act of violence that authorities quickly classified as a homicide. The investigation into his murder was launched immediately by the Chesapeake Police Department.
