On a spring afternoon in 2021, a visit to his daughter turned tragic for Caron Jermaine Wilkins, a 38-year-old man from Richmond, Virginia. On April 20th, in the 200 block of Knights Manor Court in Henrico County, Wilkins was shot in what is believed to have been an altercation in the parking lot of the Colonial Apartments. Henrico County Police responded to a call for a firearms violation just before 5 p.m. and discovered Wilkins suffering from a gunshot wound.
He was quickly transported to a local hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal.
In the wake of his death, family members remembered Wilkins as a devoted father to his 7-year-old daughter. His cousin, Tabari Winston, shared that Wilkins had been actively working to overcome personal struggles with addiction and was dedicated to creating a better life for himself and his child. The community mourned his loss, holding a balloon release in his memory and calling for an end to the gun violence that had claimed his life.
The investigation into the murder of Caron Jermaine Wilkins is ongoing. To date, no arrests have been made in the case, and a suspect has not been publicly identified.
