In the pre-dawn hours of July 3, 2021, a burst of gunfire shattered the quiet in a Chesterfield County neighborhood. When police arrived at the 3000 block of Lancers Boulevard around 4:11 a.m., they found a man lying dead from a gunshot wound. The victim was identified as 31-year-old Ever Edgardo Flores Moya.
The investigation into the death of Flores Moya, a male resident of Natural Bridge Road, quickly moved forward.
Within weeks, Chesterfield County police had identified and arrested three individuals in connection with the fatal shooting. The first to be taken into custody was Zhaquon L. Coleman, 21, of Richmond, who was arrested on July 16 and charged with conspiracy to commit a felony. Two days later, on July 18, Demetrius K. Waddey, 22, also from Richmond, was arrested and charged with being an accessory after the fact to a felony and credit card theft.
The final and most serious arrest came on July 28, when authorities apprehended 18-year-old Maurice B. Lee of Richmond. He was charged with the murder of Ever Edgardo Flores Moya and was held at the Chesterfield County Jail without bond.
