In the late afternoon of July 25, 2021, tragedy struck in Chesapeake, Virginia, when 28-year-old Davon Person, a Black male, was fatally shot. The incident unfolded on Pond Lane, where Person was shot outside of a residence. Despite his injuries, he managed to make his way inside the house before succumbing to the gunshot wound. Chesapeake Police responded to the scene at approximately 4:40 p.m.
and pronounced him dead.
This violent act was the second homicide to occur at the very same house within a single week, prompting investigators to explore a possible connection between the two slayings. The earlier victim, 31-year-old Glen Lewis, had been killed at the same location just nine days prior, on July 16, 2021. The proximity in time and place of the two fatal shootings raised concerns within the community and spurred law enforcement to intensify their efforts in the area.
In the course of their investigation into Person's death, the Chesapeake Police Department identified a vehicle of interest, described as a black Mercedes SUV. Authorities have appealed to the public for any information that might lead to the identification of suspects or provide further details about the vehicle. To address the surge in violence, the police department also established a Violent Crimes Interdiction Unit.
Despite these efforts and the public appeals for assistance, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Davon Person. The case remains an active and ongoing investigation as police continue to seek leads that will bring those responsible to justice and provide answers for the victim's family.
