In the late afternoon of July 25, 2021, tragedy struck in Chesapeake, Virginia, when 28-year-old Davon Person, a Black male, was fatally shot. The incident unfolded on Pond Lane, where Person was shot outside of a residence. Despite his injuries, he managed to make his way inside the house before succumbing to the gunshot wound. Chesapeake Police responded to the scene at approximately 4:40 p.m. and pronounced him dead.
