On a late summer evening in Newport News, Virginia, the life of 45-year-old Rodgeric Antonio Johnson, a Black male, was tragically cut short. On August 8, 2021, at approximately 10:52 p.m., police responded to a call of a shooting at the Denbigh Trace apartment complex located in the 13200 block of Ridgeview Drive.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered Johnson inside one of the apartments, suffering from gunshot wounds.
Despite the immediate response from medics, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Johnson was a resident of the 600 block of Sea Pines Lane in Newport News.
