In the early morning hours of August 21, 2021, the life of 20-year-old Terrance Jaylen Isaiah Easter was tragically cut short on Coalter Street in Richmond, Virginia. A Black male with a promising future, Easter was discovered by Richmond Police officers who were responding to reports of a shooting at approximately 6:30 a.m. Upon their arrival, they found him suffering from gunshot wounds.
Despite any efforts to save him, Terrance was pronounced dead at the scene.
Terrance was a graduate of Henrico High School, where his passion for the arts flourished. He was deeply involved in music and theater, playing multiple instruments and taking on starring roles in numerous school plays. Known for his talent and dedication, he spent three years as the drum major for the Mighty Warriors Marching Band and was also a student at the Henrico County Center for the Arts for three years. His mother, Sherita Easter, described him as a humble, talented, and gifted individual destined for greatness.
The investigation into Terrance's death is ongoing, but authorities have yet to make any significant breakthroughs in the case. No arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified. His family, including his cousin, Richmond's Fire Chief Melvin Carter, has been vocal in their pleas for justice, urging anyone with information to come forward. A reward has been offered for any information that leads to an arrest, as a community mourns the loss of a vibrant young life to gun violence. The case remains open, with his loved ones holding onto hope that those responsible for his death will be brought to justice.
