In the city of Lynchburg, Virginia, a neighborhood was left in a state of shock and disbelief following the tragic death of Jared Jacob Davis. A 47-year-old man, Davis was a beloved father of three, a brother, and a son. His life was abruptly cut short on Sunday, March 6, 2022. Remembered as a loving and strong father, his children were his heart and his purpose. Friends recalled him as an honest, straightforward, and unapologetically genuine person with a kind heart and smart wit. A skilled basketball player and historian of the game, he had played in many tournaments throughout the city.
The circumstances of his untimely death led to a police investigation that resulted in the arrest of Keri Sharpe. In March 2022, Sharpe was taken into custody and subsequently charged with second-degree murder in connection with Davis's death. Additional charges against Sharpe included possession and use of a firearm.
The legal proceedings following Sharpe's arrest took a significant turn in September of the same year. After a key witness in the case failed to appear for court for a second time, a judge granted a $15,000 secured bond for Sharpe, with several special conditions attached.
