On the night of April 30, 2022, a dispute that began inside a local restaurant in Spotsylvania, Virginia, tragically escalated, ending the life of 35-year-old Shawn D. Hastings. A White / Caucasian male, Hastings was a resident of Spotsylvania. The argument moved from inside Fatty's Taphouse to the parking lot in the 10100 block of Patriot Highway. It was there, at approximately 11:20 p.m., that gunshots rang out.
