On a tragic day in Portsmouth, Virginia, a 27-year-old Black man named Charles Lavell Moseley Jr. lost his life. On May 12, 2022, on Shea Street, Moseley was discovered with a life-threatening gunshot wound. Despite the efforts of medics who arrived at the scene, he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. The Portsmouth Police Department immediately launched an investigation into the shooting, but the circumstances that led to the fatal incident were not immediately clear.
