In the early morning hours of June 7, 2022, the quiet of a Richmond, Virginia neighborhood was broken by a grim discovery. Jermarcus Taylor, a 37-year-old male, was found unresponsive in an alley in the Gilpin Court area. Police had been called to the 300 block of West Charity Street at approximately 7:28 a.m. for a report of a person down. Upon arrival, they located Taylor, who was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Emergency services transported Jermarcus Taylor to a local
hospital, but his injury proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead. The Richmond Police Department quickly began investigating his death as a homicide, with the Medical Examiner later officially determining the cause and manner of death. His passing was noted as the city's 100th shooting victim of that year.
