McCombs Ligons, a 73-year-old man from Winston-Salem, North Carolina, went missing on November 4, 1999. Ligons, who had been diagnosed with dementia, was last seen at his home in the 1100 block of Progressive Lane around noon. When his son returned home from work later that evening, he discovered that his father was no longer in the residence. Ligons' disappearance occurred on a day when the temperatures had dropped below freezing, adding to the concern for his safety.
