In the late morning of June 20, 2022, a sense of unease settled over a residential neighborhood in Suffolk, Virginia. An anonymous call to the Suffolk 911 Center at approximately 11:26 a.m. reported a shooting in the 600 block of Matthews Court. When police officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a vehicle containing the body of a young man. The victim was identified as Justin Abel Littlejohn, a 22-year-old Black male from Suffolk.
It was determined that he had died from a gunshot wound.
Justin, who was born in Seat Pleasant, Maryland, had spent most of his life in Suffolk. He was a former student of Kings Fork High School where he was a part of the drum line for the Mighty Marching BullDogs. Known for his love of God and music, he was an aspiring artist who went by the name JmoneyLitt. He found joy in riding his skateboard, gaming, and spending time with his family and friends. Those who knew him remembered his desire to make people laugh and his willingness to help others.
The Suffolk Police Department launched an investigation into Justin's death, classifying it as a homicide. Authorities appealed to the public for any information that might lead to an understanding of the events that transpired on that tragic day. They encouraged anyone with knowledge of the incident to contact the Suffolk Police or the Suffolk Crime Line.
Despite the ongoing investigation and the pleas for public assistance, there have been no arrests made in connection with the murder of Justin Abel Littlejohn. No suspects have been publicly identified, and the case remains unsolved. The absence of resolution has left his family, friends, and community waiting for answers and for justice to be served for the young life that was cut short.
