On a late Friday evening in Newport News, Virginia, the life of 21-year-old Hykeem Ramon Boswell-Fullwood was tragically cut short. On August 12, 2022, at approximately 10:15 p.m., police were called to the 400 block of Manor Road following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered two men who had sustained gunshot wounds.
Hykeem Ramon Boswell-Fullwood, a male resident of Newport News, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The second victim, also a man, was transported to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. The Newport News Police Department launched a homicide investigation into the incident. In the days that followed, family and friends gathered for a vigil to honor Hykeem's memory at the Boys & Girls Club on Marshall Avenue.
Despite the ongoing investigation by the Newport News Police Department, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, and no suspects have been publicly identified.
