Octavius Z. Cooke, a 25-year-old resident of Rocky Mount, Virginia, tragically lost his life on August 28, 2022, following a shooting incident in northwest Roanoke. The Roanoke Police Department received a report of a shooting around 2:45 a.m. in the 1900 block of 10th Street NW. Upon arrival, officers found Cooke critically injured in a parking lot. Despite efforts to provide aid and transport him to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Cooke succumbed to his injuries.
