On a cold December evening in 2022, the life of 37-year-old Sabrina Elizabeth Jenkins, a mother of four from Barboursville, Virginia, was tragically cut short. The events that unfolded on December 21st stemmed from a tense exchange with her ex-boyfriend, Dominic Adonis Gaskins. Earlier that evening, Gaskins had allegedly ransacked Jenkins' apartment. The conflict escalated through text messages concerning the care of their son, with Gaskins insisting Jenkins take the child despite her work schedule as a kitchen manager at Gopuff.
Fearing for her safety, Jenkins phoned her niece for support while driving. During the call, she reported that Gaskins was pursuing her and swerving his vehicle towards hers. Shortly after, the call ended abruptly. Later that night, at approximately 9:32 p.m., authorities received a 911 call and discovered Jenkins in her car on Stony Point Road in a rural area of Albemarle County. She had been shot multiple times. An autopsy would later reveal six gunshot wounds, including a fatal one to the head, and defensive wounds on her arms. Tragically, one of her sons, just shy of his fourth birthday, was in the car and witnessed the horrific event.
Dominic Adonis Gaskins was arrested in connection with the shooting. Initially charged with second-degree murder, the charges were upgraded by a grand jury in October to first-degree murder, along with child endangerment and a firearms charge. In January 2024, Gaskins pleaded guilty to all charges. As part of a plea agreement, he faces a minimum active sentence of 33 years and five months and a maximum of 38 years in prison. In the wake of her violent death, Sabrina's family remembered her as a loving mother whose passion in life was her four sons.
