On the cold morning of Christmas Eve in 2022, the life of 31-year-old Timothy B. Anderson II, a Black or African American man, was tragically cut short by gun violence in Hampton, Virginia. Emergency services responded to a call about a shooting in the 1600 block of West Pembroke Avenue at approximately 3:20 a.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered Anderson suffering from multiple gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, Anderson had moved to Hampton Roads in 2009 to attend The Apprentice School in Newport News. After graduating as an outside machinist, he worked at the Newport News shipyard for 11 years before pursuing his passion for cooking and entrepreneurship full-time. He was the owner of two businesses, a catering company called Sweet & Savory and a handyman service named Man of the House. Known to his loved ones as 'TJ' or 'Swagg,' he was described as a humble, caring, and hardworking individual who was a blessing to all who knew him.
Investigations into his death revealed that prior to the shooting, Anderson may have been at a private club in the vicinity of West Pembroke Avenue and Shell Road, where an altercation reportedly occurred, leading to his removal from the establishment. He was later found shot in front of the Pembroke Enterprises Shoppes.
Despite the ongoing investigation by the Hampton Police Division, no suspects have been publicly identified, and no arrests have been made in connection with Anderson's murder. His family has expressed profound grief and frustration with the lack of progress in the case, which they feel has gone cold. They believe that there are people with information who are not coming forward. Authorities have urged anyone with information to contact the Hampton Police Division or the Crime Line. The case remains an active and unsolved homicide.
