On a spring day in Hotchkiss, Colorado, a sequence of events unfolded that would end in the tragic death of 26-year-old Paige Pierce Schmidt. On April 9, 2021, a deputy from the Delta County Sheriff's Office attempted to pull over the white Honda Accord that Paige was driving because it did not have license plates. This seemingly routine traffic stop quickly escalated into a high-speed chase.
