His body was discovered inside his burned-out residence on the 900 block of Mechanic Street. An investigation into the fire, which was reported around 5 a.m., revealed a more sinister sequence of events.
It was determined that an arson had occurred, and that prior to the fire, Macklin had been shot multiple times.
Authorities believe that one or more intruders broke into Macklin's home, robbed him, and shot him in the head before setting the apartment ablaze to conceal the crime.
