In the residential neighborhood of Elizabeth, New Jersey, on the afternoon of May 19, 2014, a violent act shattered the calm. First responders rushed to the 600 block of South Park Street shortly before 5 p.m., where they discovered 18-year-old Jonathan Landaverde in a backyard, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The young man was transported to University Hospital in Newark, where he was pronounced dead.
