On the evening of October 14, 2014, Alonza Gordon, a 39-year-old Black male, was fatally shot in Elizabeth, New Jersey. The incident occurred at approximately 10:10 p.m. as Gordon was sitting on the front steps of a building on Third Street. An unidentified assailant approached him and shot him at close range with a handgun.
