In the city of Newark, New Jersey, a community was shaken by the violent and untimely death of Tawan Edwards, a 24-year-old Black man. On the evening of November 24, 2014, Edwards was fatally shot in the area of 193-197 Chancellor Avenue. Responders to the scene were informed that he had already been transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead about an hour later.
