On the night of May 26, 2015, the life of 24-year-old John Carlos Betances, a male resident of Newark, New Jersey, was cut tragically short. At approximately 10:36 p.m., the sound of gunfire echoed through the 700 block of South 18th Street. When authorities arrived at the scene, they discovered Betances suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
