In the early morning hours of a Sunday in November 2015, the ShotSpotter system alerted Camden County Police to gunfire on the 1400 block of Pershing Street. Responding to the alert at approximately 3:12 a.m., officers arrived to find a man lying on the sidewalk, the victim of a shooting. The man was identified as 44-year-old Andre Matthews, a resident of Camden.
Emergency services transported Matthews to Cooper University Hospital. Despite medical efforts, he was pronounced dead at 4:32
