In the spring of 2024, a burst of gunfire shattered the night in Camden, New Jersey, leaving one man dead and another wounded. Algie Harmon, a 32-year-old male, was fatally shot on the evening of Saturday, April 13th. The incident unfolded in the 1600 block of Mt. Ephraim Avenue, a grim scene that would soon be swarming with law enforcement.
Around 10:19 p.m., the Camden County Police Department was alerted to the violence by a ShotSpotter activation. Arriving at the location, officers discovered two men suffering from gunshot wounds. Both Harmon and a 43-year-old man were rushed to Cooper University Hospital for medical attention. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Algie Harmon was pronounced deceased at 10:43 p.m.
The second victim was reported to be in stable condition.
The Camden County Prosecutor's Office and the Camden County Police Department have launched a homicide investigation into the shooting. Detectives are actively working the case, which remains ongoing. Authorities have not yet publicly identified any suspects in connection with the shooting, and no arrests have been announced.
