Jose G. Rivera, a 47-year-old man from Camden, was spending a Sunday afternoon near North Camden’s 7th and Bailey Streets on October 15, 2023, when the quiet of the day was shattered by gunfire. Around 12:45–12:46 p.m., the city’s ShotSpotter system detected shots in the area, drawing Camden County Police officers toward the narrow intersection of rowhomes and corner lots that mark that part of the city.
