In the afternoon hours of Friday, September 6, 2024, a burst of gunfire echoed through the 2500 block of South 8th Street in Camden, New Jersey. When the sound subsided, a young man lay wounded. First responders arrived at the scene, alerted by a ShotSpotter activation, to find 21-year-old Jajuan Flores suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency services transported Flores to Cooper University Hospital in a desperate attempt to save his life.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, his injuries proved too severe. Jajuan Flores, a resident of Camden, was pronounced dead at 3:05 p.m., just over half an hour after the shooting.
The Camden County Prosecutor's Office and the Camden County Police Department launched an investigation into the fatal shooting. Detectives from the Homicide Unit are actively working the case, which remains ongoing. At this time, no arrests have been announced in connection with the death of Jajuan Flores, and authorities have not publicly identified any suspects.
