In the winter of 2016, a wave of violence gripped the city of Trenton, New Jersey, claiming the life of 39-year-old Shawntay Ross, a Black male from Ewing. The fatal incident began on the evening of Saturday, January 9, 2016, at the intersection of Walnut Avenue and Chambers Street. It was there that Ross was shot, sustaining critical injuries. He was rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
