In the spring of 2002, a 29-year-old man named Nicholas Bror Cumming, known to his loved ones as a funny and sarcastic person who lived life to the fullest, vanished from his West Seattle, Washington community. On May 14, 2002, Cumming informed his girlfriend that he would be back in about 15 minutes, but he never returned. The following day, he was reported missing, initiating a long-standing and perplexing case for the Seattle Police Department. At the time of his disappearance, he was described as a white male, 6'2" tall, weighing 170 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He had a small scar above his right eye and a lighter spot on the back of his hair. He was last seen wearing a grey casual button-down shirt, tan corduroy pants, and a silver necklace with a Swiss Army watch. The investigation into Nicholas Cumming's disappearance began with the discovery of his vehicle, a 1994 Bronco. The vehicle was found locked and undisturbed, parked on a street near Me-Kwa-Mooks Park in West Seattle, just a few miles from his home. Authorities found no signs of foul play within the vehicle, leading them to believe it might have been a pre-arranged meeting spot. Investigators learned that Cumming was known to be a large-scale marijuana dealer. This detail led to the theory that his disappearance could be connected to a drug-related transaction that may have turned violent. Despite examining his cell phone and pager records, law enforcement found no significant leads to shed light on his whereabouts. Over the years, the case has remained open, with detectives continuing to seek answers. In 2013, a new detective took over the investigation, expressing a desire to speak with anyone who knew Cumming at the time he went missing, including his suppliers and customers, in the hope of generating new leads. His family has endured the anguish of not knowing what happened to him, a pain his sister described as a "tough process" of imagining every possible outcome. The family, along with the Seattle Police Department, has made public appeals for anyone with information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to come forward. The disappearance of Nicholas Cumming is a case marked by a lack of concrete evidence and the lingering hope that someone holds the key to resolving the mystery of what happened to him on that May afternoon.
