On the afternoon of May 1, 2016, George Allen III, a 42-year-old male from Montclair, New Jersey, set out on what should have been an ordinary Sunday, eventually finding his way into Newark, a city where the rhythm of daily life is often punctuated by the wail of sirens and the flash of patrol lights. A few hours later, he would be discovered inside a parked car on Van Ness Place, his life cut short by a single act of gun violence that has yet to be fully explained.
