In the early evening of January 24, 2024, the life of 20-year-old Nasir Dudley, a Black male from Newark, New Jersey, was tragically cut short. At approximately 6:53 p.m., Newark police were dispatched to the 100 block of Irvine Turner Boulevard following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Dudley suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical services were unable to save him, and he was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:43 p.m.
The Essex County Prosecutor's Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force promptly took over the investigation into the fatal shooting.
Despite the ongoing investigation, no arrests have been made in connection with Nasir Dudley's death, and authorities have not publicly identified any suspects. The case remains an active and open investigation as of late 2024.
