In the summer of 2018, a burst of violence on the streets of Newark, New Jersey, claimed the life of 25-year-old Dacraig D. Johnson. On the evening of July 4th, as Independence Day celebrations were underway, shots rang out near the intersection of 16th Avenue and Fairmount Avenue. When police arrived at the scene shortly before 7:30 p.m., they found Johnson suffering from a gunshot wound.
