In the summer of 2016, a burst of violence cast a dark shadow over the city of Orange, New Jersey. On the evening of Wednesday, July 20th, 39-year-old Ahmad Cauthen, a male resident of Orange, was on Central Avenue when his life was abruptly ended by gunfire. The shooting marked another tragic event in a series of violent incidents that had plagued the city, prompting concern and calls for action from the community. He was pronounced dead shortly after 9 p.m. that night.
