On the evening of May 16, 2020, Jerrel Tucker, a 23-year-old Black male, was in a parking lot in the 500 block of Liberty Street in his hometown of Orange, New Jersey. At approximately 9:10 p.m., the sound of gunfire echoed through the area. When first responders arrived, they found that Tucker had been shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene just two minutes later, at 9:12 p.m.
