On a Sunday evening in Newark, New Jersey, the life of 18-year-old Daquill M. Grant was tragically cut short. On September 4, 2016, police officers on routine patrol heard the sound of gunshots ring out. Rushing to the scene on South 9th Street, they found Grant unresponsive, suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds. The young man, a resident of Union but born in Newark, was quickly transported to a nearby hospital, but his injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead.
