On a summer evening in Newark, New Jersey, the life of 26-year-old Nigel Farrell was cut short by gunfire. On July 1, 2017, just before 6:30 p.m., a shooting erupted in the area of 12 Pennsylvania Avenue, leaving a scene of chaos and violence. When the shots ceased, four people had been struck.

Farrell, a male resident of East Orange, was one of the victims. He was rushed to University Hospital for treatment of critical injuries, but tragically, he did not survive. Another man, 20-year-ol ...
