In the late afternoon of February 22, 2019, tragedy struck in Newark, New Jersey, forever altering the lives of a local family. Jesse McNeill, a 25-year-old Black / African American male, was on Clinton Avenue when the sound of gunfire shattered the day's calm. When Newark police officers arrived at the 700 block of the street shortly after 5:00 p.m., they found McNeill unresponsive and suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds.
