In the late hours of a November evening in Jersey City, the sound of gunfire shattered the night, leaving a young man's life tragically cut short. Davon Deloach, a 30-year-old male, was found with multiple gunshot wounds to his torso on Fulton Avenue. The incident occurred on November 18, 2019, just before 10:30 p.m. Emergency services rushed Davon to the Jersey City Medical Center, but his injuries proved to be too severe.
He was pronounced dead in the early morning hours of November 19, 2019.
The investigation into the shooting quickly pointed to a suspect who was also present at the scene. Authorities identified Damien Morgan, a 31-year-old from Jersey City, in connection with the fatal shooting. In a strange turn of events, Morgan was also found to have sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his lower extremities on the same night. He was located on Van Cleef Street shortly after the incident and was taken to the Jersey City Medical Center for treatment before being released.
Following an investigation by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department, an arrest warrant was issued for Damien Morgan. He was charged with the murder of Davon Deloach. The charges against Morgan also included possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon. Further investigation revealed that Morgan was allegedly involved in another shooting that had taken place earlier that same day on Fulton Avenue, leading to an additional charge of attempted murder. Authorities sought the public's help in locating Morgan, cautioning that he should be considered armed and dangerous.
