In the winter of 2019, a tragic event unfolded in Jersey City, New Jersey, claiming the life of 49-year-old Douglas Miguel Rodriguez Barzola. An immigrant from Ecuador, he had made a life for himself and his family in the United States, working diligently at a local kosher grocery store. On December 10th, the store became the scene of a horrific shooting, an event that would ultimately be described as a targeted attack.
