In the summer of 2014, a violent encounter on a street in Jersey City, New Jersey, claimed the life of 21-year-old Shawn Spencer. On the evening of June 9th, Spencer was inside a vehicle on Van Nostrand Avenue with his friend, 22-year-old Jamal Cooks, and at least one other individual. The night took a tragic turn when they were targeted in a burst of gunfire. Both Spencer and Cooks were fatally wounded in the attack.
