In the fall of 2020, a young Black man named Bryant Jabbar Banks Jr., 23, of Salem City, New Jersey, lost his life in a violent shooting. The incident occurred on the night of October 2, 2020, during a house party in Penns Grove, New Jersey. Banks was attending the gathering in St. Thomas' Park when gunfire erupted around 11 p.m. He was fatally wounded and pronounced dead shortly after the shooting. Another man was also injured in the incident but survived his wounds.
